“EXPLOITATION OF ELECTRICAL MACHINES AND DRIVES”

Research and Development Centre of Electric Machines "Komel " in Katowice is a state owned enterprise established in 1948. The scope of Komel's activity is as follow:

· Diminishing of noise level of old-series induction motors.

· Calculations and design of new series of AC motors (low and high voltage) and DC machines, design of special purpose electric machines.

· Redesignig and updating of high voltage and high output AC motors, squirrel cage and wound rotors, to encrease their endurance, starting capacities, to diminish their losses and noise level.

· Diagnostic of windings insulation of medium and high output electric machines.

· Working out technical expertises in the field of electrical machines and drives.

· Laboratory testing of electric machines.

· Small range manufacturing of AC and DC machines (for coal mining and aviation) and electrical hand tools for meat industry, as well as alternators for wind turbines.
